One thing Turk is pretty good for is lucrative phone call HITs.. People fking hate cold calling so if you can get good at it there's usually a good batch or two a month from random requesters that tend to trend toward close qual work (because so many people scam them and don't call).. so, yeah, there's my tip 'o the day.

I wish I didn't hate cold calling so much. I did it as an actual job when I was 18 and quit after 2 weeks because I hated it so much. People would either yell at me, or hit on me, which was kind of weird but lol. I know it's different calling doctors offices and that they won't yell, but that 2 weeks I spent at that job was so awful that I can't bring myself to do these HITs on mTurk.

Haha. FWIW doing it as a dude (especially for doc's offices) isn't all that great either. No matter how nice/friendly you are you're just instantly sketchy asking for some info.

For those of you interested, check out Google Voice - calls inside the US are free and if you don't sign up for a # it'll mask you as a private caller so no need to be using your own cell phone to do these kind of HITs. Obviously requires a headset or some other workaround but nonetheless its the best solution I've found to not using my cell (although *67 is free and obviously works).

It's been a couple of years since I even tried a phone call HIT. I was supposed to keep the agent on the phone for 3 minutes. I kept asking questions to keep him on the line. After about a minute and a half, he just hung up on me.

 

You'd be surprised at what lonely desperate men will say when a young girl with a nice voice calls and wants to ask questions LOL

 

I don't think I could do a hit where the absolute best case scenario is that you have to talk to a person.
