I almost drove myself crazy recently cause part of my hiking pack was making a very faint jingle jangle and I couldn't stop it no matter how I arranged my stuff. I almost threw it off a mountain. Luckily, I hike with ear buds anyway and the jangling is faint enough to not bother me when I'm listening to music , but when I was hiking with other people who expected me to pay attention them? jingle jangle jingle jangle jingle jangle I wanted to burn it.

I almost entirely hate hiking with other people who aren't Matt for the very reason they expect me to want to talk while I'm hiking.

My favorite incident was a day I was hiking and looping the summit (mountain 5 miles from my house with a steep summit climb, so it's good conditioning) so I saw a good bit of hikers come thru while I did the same 2 mile segment over and over and questioned my own sanity. This one guy was dreadfully unprepared and was being completely silent- this trail has a ton of very skittish, will stay out of your way bears. I texted @Buntastic that I was 90% sure I saw a bear pass by a good distance from me, and so I was being loud as hell, but this guy was DEAD SILENT. I warn this guy to make more noise because hello, bears everywhere to the point that there are signs on the mountain to warn you. Well, I guess he never listened cause about 20 minutes later I hear just bloody shrieks, and I worry this guy is getting torn up by a mountain lion or something...and then I see the bear in the distance go sprinting by off the trail and into the valley. I find this guy shaking violently with a bag of food in his hands. Apparently, he thought I was bullshitting him when I warned him in the first place. doofus.
