The 'artistic choices' they made........yeahhhhhhhhh baffled is the right word

 

That's because the show is based on the book series?

 

The games are not what this is based on. The showrunner also explained some of their choices and justified them and pointed that the books are there to be enjoyed if you do not like the changes. I appreciate her honesty and am super glad this show exists.

I've never heard of the Witcher before the show came out on Netflix, but I am intrigued and will binge it soon.

I think I'm binging way too often, though. I just need something to crochet to give me an excuse to not be more productive. I crochet all the time, but think I use it as an excuse to watch tv unless I'm crocheting something that someone else has asked me to make (then I have a purpose!)

I haven't really gotten around to reading the books yet, but they're supposed to be pretty good. Everything in the games happens after the books, so you can think of the books as a sort of prequel to the games.

 

I did. I live in El Paso now. My brother still lives up here so I make out a couple times a year. ​

 

I understand that but they took a pretty major character in Triss and made her a throwaway part and vastly changed her appearance that is probably the most glaring one to me.

Triss was not a major character in the books, and Yennefer was always Geralt's true love, though? Her appearance was changed for the sake of updating the show to 21st century standards by including characters who aren't all, you know, the same generic white you're used to in the games(the author and the devs who made the games come from a 97% white country, so it's understandable that most characters are pretty homogenous.)

 

Also, apparently the author actually had far more creative input on the TV series than he did with the games. Neither of them were 100% written by him, though, so of course there's going to be differences.
