Prime matchmaking made a huge hit almost instantly.

They made queues at off-hours take forever, and split the MM rank system into two playerbases, calling the meaning of the ranks into question.

Now you could be a Supreme in Prime matchmaking, or a Supreme in non-Prime.
But either way, you're only playing against part of the playerbase to make that determination.

 

Overwatch is not a competitive game. It's only competitive because Blizzard keeps throwing money at it. When I checked the rosters for their franchised e-sports teams it was all Koreans I didn't know and ex-TF2 players(who would all rather be playing the better game from everything I've heard.) Have you seen this one yet?

Except that people who play only one hero deserve their rank the same as anyone else does.
People who switch around to shit they suck at and then blame one-tricks are the worst.

 

A one trick would say that

 

I raise my eyebrows and laugh every time he says "If you're a bad person doing bad things in Overwatch, we don't want you in Overwatch".

 

Discouraging people from being good at one specific class by introducing RPS mechanics in your supposedly competitive game seems awful silly to me.

People who switch around to random shit they don't even have any experience playing are a major cause of the RNG nature of the competitive ladder in Overwatch. If anything, people who constantly "fill" and act as though they can play any hero equally well at their rank are much worse for the health of OW as a competitive game.

 

They're actually both a problem, if you can only play one hero you shouldnt be playing competitive anyway, but I'm not a one trick so I can admit that both sides are the problem.

 

I was worried it would come down the championship game to tiebreak a winner and a loser, but it turns out we don't even need the game to figure out winners/losers now. Huzzah! Technically, @angel could tie with me for runner up after the title game, but since I'm obvs not gonna give myself the runner up prize, she was gonna get it anyway.

 

The biggest non-RNG determinant in a team's win or loss is whether people are playing heroes they actually have experience playing.

If you play OW, make sure you start every game by checking whether people are playing the heroes they actually have significant playtime on.

Make a log and compare your wins/losses to this playtime correlation. You'll start to notice a pattern.
