Canada would extradite.
It has some of the tightest immigration laws of any country in the Western Hemisphere.

 

I can't think of a country that wouldn't extradite and would also be better than jail.

 

I have no idea whether Canada would actually extradite, but it's true that they have strong immigration laws.

It was kind of hilarious when a bunch of people swore they'd be moving to Canada if Trump was elected, many citing his proposed immigration policies for the US, and then they couldn't get through Canada's immigration hoops when it came time to put their money where their mouth was. Lol.

FWIW, I couldn't even visit Canada with my GF because she has a past drug charge from a long time ago and they won't let her in. The only possible way to grant an exception is apparently to write a letter to someone who is far too important to actually take the time to read it. Sucks, because I thought it'd be cool to visit B.C. when we were in the Seattle area this past Summer.

 

That was different, those weren't American citizens trying to immigrate to Canada, those were mostly various kinds of immigrants that feared they were going to be deported.

 

It is 8 degrees outside. I put on one million layers, walked to the damn "all year rain or shine farmers market" and shit is cancelled.

 

A lot of that is on a case by case basis, and largely depends on the border guard you are dealing with that day.

The laws are pretty similar heading both ways. My Mom got turned back from the US and had to get a pardon for a charge that was on her record when her ex-husband stole a fridge from the place they rented back in the 70s.

 

I think they don't let stateside DUIs in either I was reading somewhere?
