I think it's reasonable to assume that there are significantly more shady workers than shady requesters:

I've worked online since 2011, much of this time spent without any marketplace protections (true freelance, with most contacts developed through social site solicitations / other advertisements, and continued through email).

mTurk is an incredibly safe place to do work by default, without needing a system like TO.

But once again, I guess YMMV. This is coming from someone who has done mTurk for ~1/2 year, has ~60K approved, and has Masters.

So your suggesting majority of bad TOS are the result of angry workers who got rejected. Even in the case of horrible TOS that were provided by hundreds of workers.

Your comparing a customer complaint department to the TO system overall as if its the same thing. Apples and oranges. TO ratings are open for good or bad reviews. Seems like faulty logic.

Who knows, maybe you're right. But I don't think you are.

"Hundreds of workers" is such a tiny proportion of the people working on mTurk, especially when you consider the long time scale it takes to accumulate these "hundreds of workers".

There's also no identity verification, meaning that someone with a major axe to grind can post multiple reviews.

I would imagine a good approval rating is hard to keep when you are out there blindly doing work without using any safe guards.

But having been high-IQ my entire life, I'm accustomed to being right in spite of being in disagreement with the majority. It's a common scenario when you're smarter than the majority. The consensus of hundreds of wrong people means nothing to me.

It's really dangerous to give data to average people, because they're lulled into a false sense of confidence that they can tell what it means.

DUDE, just ick.. . Please tell me you're hiding under a bridge somewhere....

Yes of course its safe to suggest so seeing the number of workers far outweighs the number of requesters right? So if this system is incredibly safe to work without the help of rating systems, why were these systems even developed initially and why do they have such a large number of users>

Fwiw over here, most of my 100+ days have been because of scared money. I've done work for requesters with no TO/TV at all and been just fine. I have a few rejects, sure, but nothng to drop me under 99%. :scaredmoney:

There are also people who do bad work and get rightful rejects. I mean, it happens more than you'd hope on a batch sometimes.

Things like TO and TV are good guides, but it would be silly to let it totally limit how you do your work or what work you do.
