    Kinda pointless because all of the benchmarks they've used have all been deprecated due to their poor ability to predict real-world performance.

    Sunspider in particular has been out of the picture for a while, since its tests involve repeating microscopic code over and over, meaning that you can "cheat" on it by detecting these microscopic tests in the precompiler/JIT phases and react accordingly. Some browsers are fast at Sunspider tests simply because they've been written to do well on Sunspider tests. Similar reason to why some tests in JSPerf run significantly faster the second time around.

    TL;DR of this is that benchmark stats are similar to video game stats: They're only meaningful if playing to boost them isn't your primary goal.

    It's definitely running faster (but that could be because of the new laptop). Maybe I should download FF and test it out. I am just concerned with the high memory usage. I don't know much about tech-stuff but apparently it was also tested using Google and Apple benchmarks:

    "Microsoft Edge showed significant performance gains over Google Chrome, but what's most impressive is that Microsoft used benchmarks created by Apple and Google: Edge was tested using Google Octane, Apple JetStream, and WebKit Sunspider. That last one is actually a benchmark created by Apple's WebKit development team that's intended for the iOS, Mac, and Windows versions of Safari, Apple's web browser.

    According to the benchmark results, Microsoft Edge was 112% faster than Google Chrome on WebKit Sunspider, 11% faster on Google Octane, and 37% faster on Apple Jetstream."

    A little off-topic but if a computer only has one browser and if that browser stops working, how can you get online to download another one? I'm asking, because on my old laptop, Internet Explorer stopped working but I had Chrome and FF already downloaded. I researched it, tried all of the "fixes" but IE never worked again.

    I should probably download another one just in case.

    You could probably put a portable bootable Linux install onto a USB drive to secure your ability to download things regardless as well.

    I used to use Puppy Linux as a bootable utility. But it's certainly not the only option, and isn't necessarily the best.
