The speculative value bubble of crypto was built on the shaky foundation of a currency with no inherent value in anyone's work. It only became popular in the first place because buying drugs on the dark web became popular, and people wanted an anonymous way to do that.

Eventually, the fact that there's no hard labor or tedious work behind earning crypto in most cases will catch up with it. The only reason for buying crypto is to speculate against crypto or to buy drugs.

Nearly nobody earns crypto as direct payment for work, and there are extremely few places that accept it as payment (none of those places being large in-person stores like Walmart or your local Kwik-E-Mart). Anything that cannot be reasonably accepted everywhere in your neighborhood as legal tender for a transaction cannot be considered a currency.
