HAHA! But nah man reddit is amazing as long as you find the right subreddits. /r/mturk is an absolute anomaly, most tiny subs that are about something you're interested in are absolutely fantastic and the best resources for info/community left on the Internet. I have no idea how that sub manages to be so bad.

The NFL sub is pretty good, but the team subs can be super hit or miss. I think the pats subreddit is known to be pretty good

Try the sports subs if you really want to use reddit. That's where I spend 90% of my time. r/hockey r/baseball r/nfl then you can try the local team subs r/bostonbruins r/patriots r/redsox. Also, there's a football sub reddit called r/EvilLeagueOfEvil that you might like. It's not super active, but it's pretty funny.
