One side of her ribs kinda sticks out more than the other. So I mentioned it to the doc and he tried to look at her spine then sent us to get xrays.. which my wife stole a pic of and now I'm spazzing trying to compare them to images on the internet

Medicine is straight up not ready for google. Parents should be put in padded foam rooms anytime anything is tested on their kids.

You've got that right! This last Oct/Nov my 17 year old was hospitalized for two weeks for a ruptured appendix. I've never been more terrified in my life, and was at the hospital with him for almost the entirety of the ordeal. Fortunately, he pulled through and is fully recovered. The doc indicated that had it been someone my age the outcome would have been much, much more dire.

note to self: stop getting older

 

The best advice I can give you is DO NOT GOOGLE STUFF. I mean for real. Not even a joke. You will never reassure yourself that all is fine when 99% of the time all is fine. You will be convinced on the hourly that your kid is dying or in danger of dying or losing a limb or...just all the stuff. I only Google little things like "what is a high temperature for a teenager?" or stuff like that. Otherwise, I'd be on 100 mg of Xanax daily.

They might just be being ultra cautious. Kiddo got all the extra stuff for years due to his sister dying from unknown reasons. He even had an ekg when he was about a week old (try getting one of those done on a super small baby!!!) to rule out Long QT syndrome. Kiddo also had a neck x-ray when he was, um, barely able to sit up due to a high fever and massive vomiting but no other signs of meningitis (turns out he had whiplash from going down a tiny slide at a playground...so yeah, mother of the year award here, I gave my small baby whiplash on a slide!)

It's all overwhelming and makes you wonder why you ever basically cut your heart out of your chest and are just holding it out there in the palm of your hand for it to be smashed to smithereens.

But. It's totally worth it.

Oh goodness! I'm so glad he's fine!

I still freak over my 27 year old an any issue she has! They're always our babies and we always want to protect them and have nothing bad happen to them. And there's always that risk that they're gunna get hurt (in any way, physically, emotionally, etc.)

 

The alternative kind of sucks, though.

Have you found/watched/going to watch Liz Kendall's documentary on Prime about her relationship with Ted Bundy?

I started it last night. Really, really interesting hearing her and her daughter talk. I know some people won't like it as they want to believe all serial killers are monsters and couldn't blend in or be normal (despite ample evidence to the contrary, BTK anyone?). But I find it fascinating, what they talk about and their perceptions of that time.

I also have mad respect for her for coming forward and talking openly since she was/has been/could still be so harshly judged by people, despite her being the one who turned him in.
