Dogs are pretty good with w/e. People have gone way too far with the stuff they feed them nowadays. Dog food used to have sawdust in it, so the bar has risen quite a bit. Costco has the 55 lbs bags of Pedigree that are pretty cheap, so I just grab those. I'm not going broke feeding 4 dogs all this overpriced shit anyways. Most the time they suck it down so fast they don't even care how good it tastes either.

I only have one dog to feed, I don't think it's that big a deal to drop $45/mo on a bag of dog food and occasionally like $5 on a bag of decent treats for my dog. It's not like his food is super upscale, either, it just doesn't have any corn in it which doesn't really have nutritional value and is only added so your dog feels like he's full.

 

I have to say... I love the requester just for being cool and giving decent bonuses just to convey messages to you.

I asked my vet about it because I was concerned. He said as long as they don't eat it *exclusively* it's fine, kind of what the article said. And they don't. They both eat their "proper" food enough that I stopped worrying.

Plus, if the dog is eating the cat shit, which probably has the WORST of what's in the cats' food, then I give up on stopping her from eating the cat food.

I TRY REALLY HARD to keep her not eating cat doody, but...sigh...sometimes she sneaks a piece.

And she eats trash. Flat out, hard core, gross and probably full of maggots and green pus, trash. She was found living on the streets a couple of times, so I think she learned to just gulp what she can and has the mindset of a "this could be my last meal, you never know" dog.
