It's just the PCIe to SATA card. You have to add a SDD drive onto it.

Any reason you don't want to just plug the sata cable in normally? Did you run out of ports?

 

Combing the desert...

 

I'm maxed out on my ports. I want to add a HDD to separate my downloading hard drive from my video transcoding one. They're both heavy read/writing processes, I'm separating the two to alleviate the bottleneck. Since I added my TV Tuner card my family is reaching my transcoder harder than before watching the live TV stuff.

I already have a WD Velociraptor 10000 rpm drive to add to use for it, I'm just out of ports and I figure if I'm ordering a SSD drive, I might as well try this.

 

If you are low on ports it might be better for you to just get a PCI to multiple sata ports so that you have more room to upgrade in the future.

 

This card has an extra SATA port in addition to the one that you mount the SSD/HDD directly onto this card, so this'll give me two extra slots total from what I have currently.
