My first job out of college was kinda like that. We had a 4 day work week that was 7-6, but they only did it because they knew everyone was gonna do 50 hour work weeks anyways because that's kinda how most engineers are. When I say most, it does not include me. I got used to that 3 days off and am never giving it back.

You can tell who does well vs who is on the verge of getting fired because you have the bros like Matt, who can take basically every friday off despite only having 2 off a month, and their boss doesn't care and just gives him even more responsibility, cause shit is getting done. And then there's the dudes who have the boss man waiting at the door to track their time schedules. Yikes. Engineers usually get a ton of freedom cause they are responsible but, hoo boy, some of them just burn thru that freedom real fast.
