The cheap on you can buy from the store. The french press itself is just a press with a mesh, no need to spend a shit load on it. Just find a sturdy one in your price range. Get a kettle and some good beans. Grind beans till they look almost a little to not ground up but still look like ground coffee, put kettle to 200 (205 if you can). Put ground beans in french press, pour warm water on it and wait 5 minutes. Pour and your done!

Pros:
Well, it didn't take the 90 minutes that it estimated.

Long timer so you could break it up in between other tasks if you wanted.

Cons:
No progress bar, and it wasn't organized in a way that you could tell when the end was in sight. It just... ended, finally.

All of your standard bubbles and repeated questions (one question actually had an entire page of exact duplicates), which gives me the impression it was long enough and repetitive enough that even the requester couldn't proofread it properly.

Was it bitter even when you used your own grounds? I don't know much about coffee but if the grounds are fine it likely is just the temperature of the water being too hot.

Coffee's range is 91-96c and if you go above that it will likely be burnt and bitter tasting.

I couldn't tell you how I get from bed to my desk, where I suddenly have a cup of french press and a heating pad.I don't know how I get there or where the coffee even comes from. Sometimes, it's tea or red bull, but I always end up propped in front of my desk with my caffeine and heating pad.
