03/01 - Thankful Thursday!

Yea, you're dead on. There's a plethora of issues in Title 1 schools and, even if there were solutions, most of those issues can't even be discussed without getting into shitfest political issues.

I don't really want to talk about the kids too much (especially since I have zero education on the topic) but way over half of the kids at my finance's middle school have diagnosable issues, not even counting their learning disabilities. The schools just aren't equipped nor designed to deal with these issues. Teachers don't have the training, time or resources to really deal with it. Basically it comes down to a teacher caring enough about the kids to try to figure it out. And sometimes doing so while that same kid abuses you verbally, physically and emotionally.

Personally I'd rather work Breligs all day.

Same. God bless her dude. I had a lot of friends in Education between Clemson/AU/SWU.. Idk how any of them survived, seemed like even the decent schools were still a shit show.

I may have mentioned this before, but Nash is the same age as me, and from the same city, so we had mutual friends in common. He was way too good for our local team, so he went to Toronto to play, but I always remembered his name because as early as 11 or 12, I had friends telling me he would make the NHL.

On the flip side, man, there are reasons why I homeschool. Dealing with the problems that a lot of schools deal with? I'd rather my kids nowhere near that. And my special needs kid is mostly non-verbal, so there's no way for him to tell me what would be happening in such classrooms. No thanks.

Yea, the good schools are a shit show for other reasons now.

I feel like we've been making some solid progress as a state lately. But god damn do we still suck horribly at some things.

I mean we suck at education on a national level; SC just one ups the rest of American.

 

Juggalos used to meet annually down here (well, farther south, at Cave-in-Rock). Crime would go up up up every year. Thankfully they've moved on.
