    yup, gotta fully de-power that down. a few seconds wont do it since it can still retain power for about 1 minute or so. unplug, make some coffee/your choice of drinks/food/whatever thatll take bout 5m, then plug it back in

    You need to leave the modem off for a couple minutes, not the router.

    He can't login to his amazon.com shopping account? If that's the case, call their customer service because if it's a global amazon issue they'll actually try to fix it lol.

    i say router because most of the new ISP modems are routers and most people know "router" more than "modem", learned this from years of tech support

    Thanks so much for the help. Seems like I am back online. I did not attempt to turn anything off again I just kept trying and it started working again. But now I know what to do next time.

    This started for me yesterday evening at the same time in the evening and it just fixed itself after 30 minutes. Seems it did the same thing this evening. I am so confused why this is happening.

    Agree, but if the problem comes from a problematic IP address, you gotta reboot the modem and we had two people in the past few days with that problem, so I went straight to modem :p
