This survey was neither fun nor short

Typical weird, long writing requirements that comes with a Dzurik survey

Yes, also not leaving the house as much as I can for the next two weeks. So having extra basics will be helpful! I can live on ramen and peanut butter and jelly! Channel my inner college girl

Kids don't have school but around here they are treating it like party time, always asking for someone else to come over... No, kid, that's not how this works!!

Bar-fight question du jour (loosely based on an example from a survey, but changed to avoid posting the survey's content):

If someone argues that a proposed action X "needs to be done", while someone else argues merely that X "can be done" — are those two arguments "in agreement", or only "partial agreement"?

The two arguments would agree on the requisite condition that the action X is doable — but the argument "X can be done" doesn't say it necessarily "needs to be done."

I say the two arguments are in "partial agreement", as one argument has an aspect that the other says nothing about — whereas the survey's example (on which the above is loosely based) would say the two arguments are "in agreement" (not just "partial").

(On re-reading, the "X can be done" argument's full text might have "implied" something like "X should be done", but still that's not quite the same as the unequivocal "X needs to be done".)

It depends on whether you think the term "partial" applies here or not. If one argument has an aspect (X "needs" to be done) that the other says nothing about, except by debatable implication, do you rely on that implication and call it agreement, or do you focus only on aspects in common (that X can be done) and if the arguments agree to that extent, they are "in agreement" (not just "partial")? ... I still prefer to call it "partial" agreement, because one argument (that X "can" be done) says nothing explicitly about the other argument's point (that X "needs" to be done).

If the survey had said "there are no right or wrong answers," it would've been OK; but this requester may reject for "incorrect" answers. Mine may be "incorrect" because my way of thinking evidently differs from the researchers', so I returned the survey.

Edited the previous because the forum auto-linked the phrase "survey example".

I don't want my words or phrases auto-linked to pages I didn't intend to link.

But I'm old-ish and was planning to pull that retirement ripcord in 6-8 years.

I mean, my friend is old-ish.

    I have an old friend.

An old friend that isn't me.

(I'm just going to tell my friend that he's going to need to work for another 10 to...uh, 40 years.)
