    So much of Robin's comedy was built into Genies so I have to disagree, I am by no means discounting Will Smith as an actor. I fee any actor would be sub par in the roll and if robin was still with us I think they would have found for him to do it.

    he would have been recasted considering they got James Earls Jones for Mufasa, so they are at least keeping with the key stuff that's still kicking.

    thiiiiis.
    one of the reasons i love remakes/whatever is to see what other actors bring to characters. i'm a huge robin williams fan and he was genius as the genie, but i'm totally open to seeing what anyone else can do. has will smith ever disappointed with anything? he's great, i genuinely can't think of anything he sucked at. everything is an interpretation of an interpretation of an interpretation of an interpretation, seeing other people's views on the same story/character is awesome.
