It would be useful for more fine grained data access like to the house level... I have enough diesel to help combat the virus... Then again the government can read the numbers off your credit card from space I would rather them not make that level of zoom available to the public...



If I catch it I would like to be able to shit my brains out in peace without worrying some bird in space is giving the public access to an infrared map of the crime scene within my bathroom.

 

Well, despite our governor shutting down bars and prohibiting events, and calling for mandatory isolation of those 65 or older, my boss, my mom, who is 72, refuses to 'close' the business. Her idea is we just won't let anyone in our office.

So.

I gave her ideas on how we can handle this by doing a bunch of work from home but she says nope, just don't let anyone in the office door. I can see that going well when people show up and we yell "go the heck away!" through a closed door.

And she won't isolate herself. She thinks I'm being dramatic and just want free time off (though I offered to pick up our mail from the post office, check voicemails from home and deal with all that from home, do all the work I can possibly do from home and only go into the office when I have to, like to print checks or produce reports which I can't do from home). Sounds like I'm asking for free time off to me, eh?

I just hope they don't shut down MTurk since it's a pretty crowded place with a lot of human contact.

 

She's stubborn, I get it, but at this point do what you can do for her and hope that she agrees with this situation and come to her senses when it's starting to get bad. And no, you're not asking for free time off, you're working really hard on making this work in this crazy situation we have going on.

I can only do so much. She doesn't really like me, never has, and has told me I've been dramatic my whole life. (Not true for a long, long time. I was dramatic as a teen and early 20s but I'm 51 now and outgrew drama like, oh, a million billion of us do?)

But she has a low opinion of me so unless the governor forces a shut down she'll make us go in just to prove a point. That she's the boss and she can make us do it. And because I suggested it she won't do it. I should have known better.
