I was more so impressed that Mturk actually had the language about being generous with the timer considering how many requesters we've heard from over the years who thought that giving a 60 min timer would lead people to assume that the hit took 60 minutes.

Edit - I disregard any TO review that contains the phrase "looking for free work". No offense to you individually Wildflower but the correlation between some variation of that phrase and bad review is absurdly high

 

That's actually the part that is new since the first time I made a Requester account, but just looking at the page I could easily see someone still mixing them up because the alignments do NOT make it very clear which question that tidbit of advice is for.

Now imagine your average idiot intern / grad-assistant going to throw up a survey on mTurk.. frankly I'm more surprised it doesn't have 10x as often. I know what I'm doing on BOTH sides of the platform & could still screw it up if I was breezing through the form.

People seriously don't understand how crap the Requester experience is. Take away everyone's favorite suite of scripts & that is what Requesters are working with. Oh, you want all the features of mTurk? Then you have to know how to code for yourself too.

Majority of Workers would cry like babies if they had to work from the other side of the platform. Bonus: Instead of inferring disrespect based off faulty assumptions you'd actually have the "ILL FUCK YOUR ENTIRE CAREER AND MAKE SURE YOU NEVER GET A JOB AGAIN ILL FUCKING FIND ANYWHERE U WERK & REPORT TO UR BOSS UR A SCAMMING SHITSTAIN OF A SCUMBAG FOR LIFE" messages show up

What rational person did you get? I always get threatened to be sued. There are a lot of people's fathers out there who are lawyers apparently. If I had to guess, it would be the same amount of people on Xbox Live who have "banged my mom".

 

I bet they're also the type who mark "strongly disagree" when they get the most people are basically trustworthy survey question.

Nah really the problem is that people just need one time of it not working for them to have "proof" - then their minds are made up and the case closed all future encounters are forever tainted.

Tbh that's not even a joke. I've gotten messages somewhat similar.

Most are just elderly folks who are chill AF and simply let you know it took way longer than you'd estimated because ofc when I estimate a completion time on a HIT its based off my own experience with it. Those folks are fine, bonus & a "my bad" 'cause most come from an alright / understandable place. ...but every once in a while

I always picture it coming from someone like that Twitch streamer who pretended to be paralyzed from the waist down for donations then one day accidentally left his cam on and stood up to feed his goldfish or some shit the outrage is just so over the top that it has to be someone pretending & trying to fake what they'd expect the level of outrage over such a slight would be.
