They finally decided to cancel school here after Friday saying they wouldn't. My son is pissed off because he thinks this is all mass hysteria and overblown. His state competition is also likely to be cancelled.

 

Tell him it's not overblown and if we can even save 1 life it is worth it.

 

He told me it's just old people.......his fucking school said that in an email they sent also.

 

But perfectly healthy young people that may make it through, not all are for sure, can spread faster to old people. There are many children with issues too that can be effected.

 

People have no compassion anymore. It's sad.

It's only old people...ugh, how despicable. I think America is going to have issues with this because the culture of self-sacrifice just isn't here like it is in some other countries.

 

I tried to explain this but he's 17, there's nothing you can do all he knows is that it's causing inconvenience to him so everyone has lost their mind in his world.

 

As of Friday night this was my school districts stance, by Sunday night they had cancelled everything...

Dear Families:

We wanted to provide you with an update on what we know at this time. We will undoubtedly know more as time goes on and we will do our best to inform you about changes to our current plan.

We have learned from public health officials that, unlike many respiratory illnesses, COVID-19 so far has had a very limited impact on children and young people. Fewer than 2% of identified cases worldwide are in people under the age of 19.We have also learned that it is most important for people over the age of 70, those with compromised immune systems, and pregnant women to avoid crowds and people who maybe ill.

We continue to have frequent conversations with the Jackson County Health Department and are following recommendations from the CDC. We are aware that states of emergency have been declared for this area. Based on DESE guidance, these declarations are not related to school closure decisions.

Based on current information, our plan is to hold school as scheduled next week. We also plan to hold pre-K through 6 grade parent/teacher conferences as scheduled. Fire Prairie is canceling Monday night's learning expo, but not conferences. We are developing resources for students and their families to use at home in the event that school is closed. These resources will be shared next week.

While we are planning to continue the school day as usual, we are cancelling most out of district travel, including field trips. At this time MSHSAA has not altered spring sports schedules so we are continuing with practices and pre-season activities. We will continue to monitor activities and guidelines as they develop.

We will continue to stay apprised of this ever changing situation and provide information to you as it is available to us.

Only thing that makes me really angry is hoarders man.... How much TP do you use in a week holy crap. Do you wipe your ass with a full roll each day? And buying food in such bulk to where others cannot get it is a little sad. I bought my weekly groceries. Went into the store yesterday because my daughter wanted a can of spaghettios. No canned pasta... none. No boxed potatoes. Almost no canned veggies... c'mon people.
