    I was thinking more like giving someone that lives in Denver an extra 10 steps for every 1000 compared to someone that lives in LA to account for the thinner air. Doesn't @gurlondrums live on a mountain? She might be doing more work for the same amount of steps. Mojave is is like 5000 ft elevation IIRC, so @Hummingbirdee is getting cheated by the sea level people too.

    Your muscles get stronger to compensate, but you still do more work. The energy required is still higher, you just adjust to using more energy.

    Yeah, I was curious about it because I live in the mountains too. I'm about 4500 feet up. I go to Ruidoso in New Mexico sometimes and it's 7600 feet. You can really feel it at that elevation.
