Description: This research is being conducted by Dr. Carmen Merrick who is an Assistant professor at Hendrix College and Dr. Holly Cole who is an Assistant professor at Wesleyan College.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of imagining different scenarios on predicted future behavior. This experiment includes writing about an imagined situation for three minutes (You will be required to write for the entire 3 minutes and will not be able to advance until the time has elapsed) and completing a short self-report questionnaire. This survey should take you roughly 10 minutes to complete.
Foreseeable risks may include some unpleasant feelings or discomfort. The potential benefits of the research include increasing our—and your—knowledge about emotions and behavior. Everyone who participates will be compensated $1.25 for their time and effort.
Your responses in this experiment are confidential. Your confidentiality will be protected to the fullest extent of the law and college policy. Your data will be stored in a secure place and will be accessible only to researchers directly involved in this study. Results will be reported as statistical data with no identifying information included.
Please note that your participation in the study is completely voluntary. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. You may choose to terminate your participation at any time for any reason."
