I keep mine in a loose ball in a container that's underneath me and then just feed sections up to myself while I work with a loose strand behind my work, then I just pull up a bit more every row and adjust my work back so the working strand is always in the same relative spot. I have one of those over lap tables that I use most of the time while I'm sitting on the couch. Occasionally, I use a book to hold strands down if I'm doing something that is excessively twitsty until you've knit enough strands for it to weigh down on its own. After a certain point, it usually gets easier to keep your work from flopping around and you get used to the kind of tension and spacing you need for a specific project.

I inherited one from my friend who makes my knitting look like hot garbage. I just like winding it by hand for some reason? I zen the hell out for like 20 minutes. I've realized clams are probably so happy because they are oblivious to their surroundings, chilling in the sand, enjoying the ocean, and then someone digs them out like, "HOLLA TO MY CLAMS!"

Anyway, yeah, you're right, for sure! I'm just super weird....I hate the hand physio with the stupid grip weights, so I just sit there winding yarn in another dimension cause Greg the Physio bro said that also counts! I only started knitting as a way to get out of the hand exercises that bore me, figured I could at least make something with my time instead...also tetris.
