Ya know. Every time I whip cream, it just splashes all over me and I have to clean my whip off to boot. I don’t see the fuss.

Maybe I’m doing it wrong :emoji_thinking:

Consent form says you can skip questions, so I did for all the open-ended ones. With a requirement to write several paragraphs on one page and several open-ended answers on the next, it's the only way to keep this HIT above minimum wage.
    Cons:
Lots of writing if you don't skip those questions.

Spot checking is a random record sample: manually pulling records from each worker and matching. Incredibly cost and time inefficient.

With large data sets (1MM+), someone who understands data management will segment into smaller data sets and select a few records to manually seed with correct information for a match file. Those batches are then segmented further so every small batch of 1,000 records are seeded with a certain percentage the data manager can easily match to. If you do one or two hits, the likelihood of catching one of these seeds is very low.

My concern is they aren't paying the workers for the tasks they completed, even though that's not happening. And then the worker has to do a ton of work to compensate in case someone doesn't understand there's people out there who need the $2 to buy a box of pasta and sauce to feed their family that night in case they send rejections for the entire batch.

Well I mean welcome to MTurk really. Requesters can reject work at their discretion without any reasoning. Some have rejected for problems on their end or just cancelling the project. These things aren't terribly common though. But if you miss a golden or known response that would be bad data and that would indicate you didn't/aren't understanding what the requester is asking and grounds for a rejection. So completing a task wrong is worse than not completing it all I suppose. Ideally it would be nice if more requesters used the system like pinterest in which missing a 'golden' just means you're out for the batch and not gonna get a rejection and gives you a chance to do better next time. Or just use a block qual to keep you from submitting bad work. I dunno I'm no expert on rejections, better at trying to avoid them rather than understand them :emoji_sweat_smile:
