03/28 - Wondrous Wednesday!

I drove 5 hours to go look at wild prickly pear last year. There's a state park in Illinois called Sand Ridge State Park - that some military organization filled with sand in the early 1900s to see what kind of plants they could grow in areas that get snow - or something like that. Other than that, you don't see em around here.

-edit nevermind it was sandy due to natural causes. But the Civilian Conservation Corps planted pine trees to see how they could do in the sand.

 

Honestly, I'd send you guys as many cactus as you wanted if they could be mailed without dying. I pull up at least 3 dozen a year in grandma's front yard. That's on top of the dozen she has that are actually supposed to be there.
