You're not filing a 1099, you'll file a 1040+Schedule C. Unless you make $20,000/yr on MTurk AMT doesn't file a 1099 on your behalf so you just have to report your own tracked earnings (pull it from MTurk's dashboard is generally the best you can do, but IIRC someone here got audited and had to go more in-depth then? Can't remember it was a post in passing hopefully someone quotes me to link it lol)

Credit karma is free in exchange for selling all your personal deets, there's some other program that gets linked and I forget where but if you earn <$60,000 there are lots of free options on the IRS website https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free

Actually, good faith ignorance for something like this that isn't common knowledge can be very effective in getting out of any of the onerous (penalties) consequences of getting it wrong. The Service generally acknowledges that income taxes are kind of complicated and wouldn't expect someone making a few hundred dollars to necessarily engage an outside preparer (at a cost of a few hundred dollars) to ensure they got it all exactly right.

(ETA: The occasional horror story of the IRS blowing up someone's life for seemingly no reason* notwithstanding.
