So very sorry. Recovery is different for everyone. I can't answer for the vent, but from my experience, try to keep him engaged and a little active if possible. If any exercises are prescribed to help get any motion back, be on him hard about that; it's real easy to let him get into a rut that will be harder to get out of. Seek lots of opinions, since they are super varied, and just try to be strong. All the best!

My step-dad whos 68 actually had a mild stroke in November and everyone is different really. He lost feeling in his legs and left arm, hes been in physical therapy for a few months and is now walking on a walker. Uses a wheel chair to move around if he needs to move faster.
