And Stanford doesn't pay enough to afford to live there. My BFF works there and I know what she makes. She might be able to afford a small 1 br rental.

(She lives in San Jose with hubby, who makes a lot more, so they live in a super nice house...but she tried to talk me into getting a job at Stanford, too, and I noped out when I saw the salary ranges for the jobs. These were jobs that are not entry level.)

 

I feel bad because I wrote her back and explained why I am not comfortable with that. I asked if there was something Amazon could do instead and she is saying she has reached out. She also said she only created this PayPal for this purpose and will delete it after (in regard to my privacy concerns)? Then she mentioned if I felt more comfortable we could do a bank account transfer. I think I will just reply to her to maybe wait and see what Amazon says/suggests. This is beyond me.

honestly ask her/him to let the professor and department figure it out, and they'll just eat the loss with their superillions of dollars they have set aside for research.

mistakes happen. grad students are dumb. they're paying tuition. let the department or school handle it
