    No personal experience. But most resources for the blind are going to be local. You should see if there is a a local American Foundation for the Blind in your area that can point you in the right direction. If not, look for another similar organization or contact your county and they will know. If you're thinking of a seeing-eye dog, start the process early, there's typically a long wait list to get a service dog.

    I remember a friend saying she knew someone who had gone blind and got help from the National Federation for the Blind. I think they have info and give away those white canes and help people find training and rehab programs. I don't have any personal experience with it, though.
