Okay my PC people. What is a reasonable price to pay for a DVI-I to USB converter?

I don't even bother buying a lot of toys that are not made with durability in mind, but I have gotten pretty good at pulling with the right amount of strength and letting go at the right times to put less stress on them haha. Back when she was younger she'd destroy everything out of separation anxiety but now she likes to just chase them when I throw them more.

to USB? Are you trying to use the monitor over for USB for some reason? You can't support more on your GPU?

This opens up a discussion I would like to learn about. Essentially my laptop is FAR better than my desktop but now that I have an office at home I can hook my laptop up to my monitors which are much larger than the laptop itself. I have one HDMI slot on my laptop. So is video over USB even worth it? Or would it be better to just get a mouse program that lets me communicate mouse clicks over two different PCs and treat it like a fake dual monitor setup for now.

USB for video output is worth it if it is your only option but USB --> DVI is expensive and you would be better off just getting a new USB monitor at that point lol.

It is worth noting that I believe all USB monitors use CPU cycles so that will kind of suck on your laptop.

What about what I mentioned. Do you have any experience with cross PC mouse programs? I know they exist I just worry about keystroke logging. I know obviously it is necessary to carry across devices and to actually work I just want to find a reliable and safe one.

https://symless.com/synergy is the popular one I believe and I assume that it just runs on your local network so it is prob fine but it most likely also has other stuff to help with security.

How expensive is expensive, over $50? Is there a better cheap option? I'm in a similar spot where my laptop is currently my best device but I can only do one external monitor on it. It has HDMI and RGB out, but the ports are too close together so I have to use just the one. I'm gonna build a desktop over the summer but another monitor out until then would be nice.

The DVI to USB stuff I see are like $50 so that is pretty expensive in my book. You can get USB to HDMI adapters for fairly cheap.

Also dunno wtf is a 'rgb out' but if you mean a Component output that thing must be old enough to be tossed in the bin.
