    Few months ago I said I wanted to expand my Japanese from the very basic level I knew to something better so I could communicate with a friend of mine in Japan better.

    I'm finally reaching the point where I can carry on a...somewhat coherent conversation with him in Japanese.

    Or he is taking massive pity of me and giving me false hope...either is equally likely.
