Hopefully not a stupid question..

Every news story I've seen about those $1200 stimulus checks says that you'll get the money directly into your bank account if you've given the IRS "DIRECT DEPOSIT" information for REFUNDS.

It's been many years since I've received a refund. But I do PAY the IRS by giving them my banking info! (Or at least they should have it from the monthly payments I've been making for 2017 directly on the IRS website. I think the amounts I've paid when filing have gone through some other service.) Has anyone seen anything saying that someone who does that will receive the money in their bank account as well?

I would assume that they have it on file because you have to enter your direct deposit info when filling out your taxes online (turbotax, etc) whether you get a refund or not.

 

I think if you haven't filed for 2018 or 2019 then you have to file to get it. but I could definitely be wrong.

 

I was able to look this up on urbanpedia, and learned that 'pos' stands for 'positive, not!'
