    Oh my! My CSE friends really struggled with all of theory courses they had to take. I took the easy route and studied software engineering instead ;).

    Long story short, I never finished my degree, but I've been wanting to pick up programming as a hobby or side hustle. That's kinda why I've been polling everyone on their preferred learning methods.

    Hearing about you guys teaching yourselves to program is really encouraging though :D

    I struggled with the higher level math classes more than any of the software development ones. Diff Eq can bite it.

    I had no problem with my Maths until I was Multivariable Calc., Discrete Mathematics, and Real Analysis together. Just typing all that made me shudder a little.

    ty, ty. tbh, I dropped out in the first semester when I got pregnant with my son. ended up getting an entry level job in a call center. worked my way up to the programming dept, which was 3rd gen programming, not actual coding. learned all I could from people who knew more than me, taught myself SQL. always tried to keep learning as much as I could (hands on experience). hit a dead end when my company got bought and the purchasing company was hot garbage. got poached by a former coworker to work where I work now, and while they use the same platform, they are heavy on the coding and don't use any of the 3rd gen ezpz shortcuts. but now I'm the head programmer of the company, my boss is a vp and his boss is the ceo. so things just kinda worked out for me.
