I hesitate to trust @Masterbah in matters of NHL teams, donut shop preferences, and socially acceptable apology frequency.

For everything else, he's pretty solid

 

For the record - I do not want Nox, Blue Stax or Caprine - I am just trying.... literally to see pictures of my nieces and nephews pets (and also chat with them <thanx Facebook>) - by NOT downloading another new program.

I mean I barely know how to use Steam....

 

Ok so you guys seem to all be saying go with Caprine and not Blue Stax or Nox?

 

Caprine is a lightweight chat app.
BlueStacks / Nox are entire OS environments.

So, to put it simply...

Installing Caprine is like installing MTS.
Installing BS/Nox is like installing Windows.

Ok - this is incredibly helpful.

I need simple - because I'm not building an AI here - I just need to interact with kids and them IM-ing me and taking pics of their pets.
So Caprine...

Apparently there are a ton of Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents etc trying to figure this out - so appreciate all of your help!

I am sorry to say that even after installing Caprine (which is pretty cool btw) - I can NOT see the kids posts.

 

So still seeing this (sorry - I am a crap snipper - but you get the idea.....)

 

Or possibly you don't from my terrible snipping. It says "___________________ name" of the kids messenger account for Aunt, download the messages etc etc... so I may be back to where I started from....

Go full Tiger??? Or just cave and put the dumb app on my phone.

 

Oh, wait. I might be able to help with this. My sister tried to connect our Dad to my niece's account the wrong way. Instead of connecting grandpa as an adult, they invited him as a child. He kept getting similar messages about downloading the kid app. Is it possible your sibling screwed up and sent you the wrong kind of invite (kid invite vs adult invite)?

Actually we tried this.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I kept getting invited as a child and to "sign in as a child"

We've now done it both ways - I have tried to go in as an adult and as a kid. From two different accounts.

Were you able to eventually log in?

I get close and then get the message that I need to download the app.... so that's where I am stalled out on this Kid Messenger thing

 

Listen, it's not because I have a 9900k with a 2070 that I can't judge which program has a larger impact on my performance (also I have this weird issue where RivaTunerSS keeps displaying the OSD stats on my emulators and I can't exclude them, so when I run them, I see the GPU/CPU/MEM usage and clocks. PITA but I can easily see resource usage

Yes, that's what I was talking about. Sorry it's not working.

 

I have no idea what any of this means but it sounds super impressive. (And I DO recognize the word emulator now so I am basically 1 1/100th of the way to understanding this. )
