    well, that's terrifying.

    lolllllllllllllllll

boys don't care about clothes or makeup, maybe a new hoodie when they outgrow one. deodorant & shaving supplies are cheaper.

girls need the latest fashion trend in clothes, need new makeup every month, oh wait, PERIODS, now you need to buy her pads/tampons every month, deodorant, shaving supplies, basically all bathroom stuff has the pink tax. lol you better up your subscription prices in 10 years just to pay for that.

I have a 10 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. So I get to deal with both! I'll get back to you in a few years to tell you which one is worse.

    also @ChrisTurk

skin care: girls care way more than boys.

shoes: they need different shoes for everything.

almost forgot, birth control: she's gonna ask for birth control to "regulate her period" at like 15 and the doctor's gonna give her free condoms with her rx.

I guess I was a pretty low maintenance teenager lol. I got a job when I was 15 and bought all that shit myself.

(And didn't go on the pill til I was 17.)

yeah, mileage may vary, with all things. I was working summers from 13 and had to buy a lot of it myself, plus my mom took a chunk of my paychecks as rent. I had friends who's parents bought them everything though and never got a job til they were 17 or 18.

also, bc does regulate for a teenage girl but I knew some girls who used that as the excuse.

I was mostly just trying to scare @ChrisTurk into a distraction so I could outpace him in the weekend warrior but being the garbage that he is, he hasn't even joined.

Yeah my parents were total cheap asses and wouldn't buy me anything, I also had a paper route when I was 12. I'll try to be in the middle on that for my kids, I'll give them what I can within reason. When I lived with them about 10 years ago, they charged me a crazy amount for rent.

As for birth control, it's good for preventing babies of course but really messes with your body for even years after you take it, so I dunno what I'm going to do when my daughter wants to take it. Least I have a while before that happens!

I feel you. my dad died when I was 13 and my mom was super poor, so she couldn't really buy me everything anyway. and I understood way after the fact why she was asking me for money from my paychecks. I make 3 times as much as she did now and I can't even imagine holding a family together on that kind of income.

we're trying to do the same as you with ours. I only have the one boy. he's really intelligent when it comes to electronics and different things, may be on a path to an engineer one day. not gonna bog him down with "gimme $50 of your paycheck". I'll just take care of the side stuff, lol.

yeah it's a tough choice with the bc. there's times I needed it. and then I regretted it and went full au naturale. but also I get migraines that one of my many triggers is the drop in estrogen at that time of the month, so I have to regulate that at minimum just to function properly. hopefully you find a happy medium for your daughter when it comes time.

    Wow rudeskis & sexistskis :nono:
I mean I can see why girls could be more emotionally/mentally challenging than boys, but they also (in my brain anyway) are WAY easier to empathize with cause all that shit is rougher than my life with a peepee lol.

Boys at that age exist to kill themselves/everything around them and impact max destruction/chaos. I find keeping a physical being alive is more difficult than the brain/social stuff lol. That stuff is more fun puzzle :dunno:
