This was a paid screener worth 20-cents. If you made it through, you get a $1.50 bonus. The whole thing can easily be completed in under 10 mins so, $1.70 is good pay.
There is also a chance to win a "bonus" of a $50 gift card. Obviously, I never count on winning these things but, I was pleasantly surprised when I finished the survey, I received a message telling me that I won:
"Congratulations! You are selected as the winner of bonus payment!

Yea, it's basically the same on both sides though. Many of the low paying ones are equally as brain dead. Their lives are just so far removed from our half of the platform it's not even a thought that 25c isn't OK for a 10 minute survey lmao, they'd do them all day for free because they "love science" & don't even consider anything else lolol

Though U of M evil gingers do exist.

I think a wage ceiling is turrible. A wage floor is fine for certain aspects of the market. It's one of the reasons I like ScoutIt and am always confused AF by people who want them kicked off the platform.

We'd all get to enjoy that giant crater of workers who were pre-occupied with $2/hr work now scrambling to find something new to do

But if there is a set floor of what is minimally acceptable and market it correctly and set it somewhere it can be realistically achieved I think it helps folks who are semi-functional adults stick around b/c of stability (on both sides), and folks with real skills/resources to actually flourish (again, on both sides).

But then people like Prolific just go "$6/hr is ETHICAL" and quickly the market trend will shift towards that # as the standard goal 2 years ago /r/mturk was a majority of $6/hr advice workers, and they'd get upvoted to the top. Nowadays they still exist, but in 9/10 threads I see they get hammered w/ downvotes (deservedly). Similarly, new requesters are much more likely to get smacked in the face w/ TV than TO where they see this:
