I didn't pay close enough attention to the second email I guess. I saw 'we appreciate your time and effort' and saw .40 and $7 and assumed we weren't getting screwed.

I emailed him this morning to ask for clarification and said that I was confused with how the pay increase ended up being a pay decrease. No response yet.

I have a quick question about compensation for the study.

The first email we received stated the compensation would be $8.50 for perfect attendance (3.50 + $5 bonus)

For each daily questionnaire that is filled out, participants will receive a $.25 bonus ($3.50 total for 14 days). Participants who fill out every daily survey will be paid a $5.00USD bonus for their perfect adherence

Then it was updated to .40 daily and for perfect adherence "we will award you $7.00”. I received a bonus of $1.40 for perfect adherence.

So the original structure actually paid more for respondents who devoted perfect adherence to the study? And the updated ‘raise for time and effort’ earns 18% less?
