Kiddo got lucky. Just heard from his last two teachers to get back to me. They both excused him from any work due this week because he is an "exceptionally responsible student" and has always done well in class.

Makes a mom proud to hear that.

And I guess that's not luck, that's earned.

(His PE teacher, however, gave him an F for the week, but I know she will give him full credit if he does a few extra workouts at home and has me sign off on them.)

They get 10 points per day in PE for participation. He missed 3 days, so he only got 20/50. F.

But he missed a day last semester and she allows "makeup" workouts at home. All he has to do is exercise for 25 mins straight (even just walking) to make up. Not sure if she'll make him do 3 25 min workouts or what, but I know that once he completes whatever makeup she needs him to do, she'll switch his grade to an A.

I think it's pretty cool that they can even "make up" missed PE days. I'm not sure what else the teacher should do? He has to make up all he missed in other classes (well, most of them).

Yeah, so...that gets abused now and around here. It's not difficult to forge a Dr. note, and there have been issues with families abusing this (like, the kid wasn't sick, they were on vacation so they forged notes to get them "out" of school).

But, he can't get out of all the work due in, say, his Physics class, and still has to complete that. So, not much of a difference to me. A class is a class.

That's how it was at one of the schools I went to. Then the football coach was also the science teacher so the football players really didn't even have to attend that class either if they didn't want. Mr. Saccamano, I'll never forget him. He hated me.

 

Same here. If I was in a sport I got last period PE and that class was spent practicing the sport.

But, Kiddo isn't in a sport, so...2nd period PE it is for him, lol.

Upside for me is no stinky PE clothes to wash this week!

 

at my school even the marching band got you out of gym class. I still took gym tho.
