05/17 - Failure Friday

I was a cheerleader and in band and in choir. I still had to go to PE.

 

PE is only required the first two years right? I remember it being something like that.

 

We never got out of the class, we had to practice whatever it was during that class (marching band counted at my school, too, along with all the sports, cheerleading and drill team.)

 

taking an extra english class senior year (not required) got me out of PE, but i still took both for funsies. yay words and sports

 

OMG I had to take it ALL. FOUR. YEARS. I feel so cheated.

 

Did you fail the fitness exam at the end of the 2nd year?

 

Apparently that is the case now. Kiddo only has to take it two years. Back in my day we had to take it all four years.

 

We only had to take two semesters to graduate. If you played a sport or whatever, they just made you sign up for another elective.

 

We had to do square dancing in PE and we never had enough girls so we had to put on a red armband and dance with a guy... I hated PE.

 

LOL no. Being in martial arts and cheerleading always kept me pretty fit. Everyone had to take it all four years.

We did line dancing in middle school. It's not like I lived in the middle of nowhere either.

 

we did square dancing and juggling in middle school. i still remember how to juggle, but hell if i know how to square dance.

 

I somehow talked my way into intramural floor hockey to get out of normal gym class during the winter (they let me fuck off to the tennis courts during the fall and spring) and hoo boy, did I accidentally become one of the reasons they banned a bunch of co-ed intramurals. In my defense, my gym teacher told me that since I was so small, I should use my low center of gravity and totally maybe that handy stick to deal with anyone playing too rough with me. A lot of them started off too rough and backed off, but one nutter butter was determined to break me in half.

My dad got called into the school and him and my teacher both struggled not to audibly laugh as I was forced to apologize to a bro twice my size because he complained to his parents about me brutalizing his Grinch ass. He maybe had to use crutches for awhile >.>

 

Had to take all 4 years and pass a swim exam + had a christmastime volleyball tournament, eyyyyy. I loved PE

 

When I was in elementary/middle school we just did the electric slide, no square dancing.

 

Despite what TV makes it look like, California is a fat state. They're cracking down on gym class now, to help combat obesity.

Can't say I disagree. My kiddo is absolutely not fat, but his BMI makes him out to be "overweight" because he's 5'11" at 180 lbs. The state has "issues" with his BMI.

His feet are almost a size 13, lol. He's just a big dude, and he's still only 14! (he's a size 32 or 34" waist pants, depends on cut, so I don't think that's fat for a 5'11" dude? Am I wrong?)

I am 5'11'' but weigh like 40 lbs more so no I do not think he is fat lol
