I'm impressed at how much better your photos are getting.

 

Matt-bot veto-ed the name Panther, too generic! So, I went with John Cougar Mellen-cat and then told everyone so it would stick before Matt-bot could veto again.

And thus, he looks like a Panther to the eye, but he's actually a house cougar!

 

What is up with the short timers? ... One minute for a task that takes two? ... Five minutes for a seven-minute task? ... Maybe these are doable if you belong to the "elite" tier of speedy turkers. But there's no good reason to expect everyone to work that fast. ... Requesters benefit by getting some work done free by turkers who don't notice the expiring timer.

Can't talk bad about Mturk on social media, but you complain directly to them and you get cricks is how I hear it goes

 

Lots of times when requesters are contacted about this, it's just a mistake.

I've never seen the requester side of things, but I've heard it's not always intuitive for first time requesters (or people posting under a requester account the first time).

 

9/10 are the fault of MTurk's shitty requester interface:



They conflate time allotted w/ "how long this should take" and so if they have a 15 minute survey they set that timer to 15 minutes because.. well the very next box says expire and neither are very clear to a newbie.

Then mix in queue management, which absolutely is not explained or sensible for a newbie requester to have any clue about, and you get a clown fiesta.

 

Damn, sure is gonna suck when requesters cheat me out of the fat stacks I have pending which is totally going to happen because all requesters are super evil and only out to scam.

 

Is this when we form the turkerhub union?

I'll collect the union fees.
