I just bump mine up incrementally when I hit it. I find it motivating. If I increase it by $5 or $10, its a lot easier to convince myself to keep working than to bump it up by like $20. It just makes it seem like it's no big deal (and it isn't) and prevents me from kicking back and feeling like I'm just done for the day.
