You can keep at it and your speed will increase. That is working for me. You could practice speed reading. Google that.. As far as doing Empirical Jury HITs I assess where I am in my pace and focus for the day. They are definitely interesting.

I speed through the demographics as I have that nailed down pretty well for these HITs. But when it comes down to the meat and potatoes I always read them slower because they will sneak in a question like:

The Plaintiffs main argument in this case was...

1. Jim Bob is a man.
2. Jim Bob likes clowns.
3. Jim Bob has a purple cat named Sprinkles.

It is not that I am not paying attention, but some of them could be plausible. I have tried speed reading techniques in the past, but nothing ever really stuck. I might have to look again. Thanks!

All of this is good information so far, but I was hoping someone would chime in with "man I got a script that reads this to me at 2x the speed," or something like that, lol.

Personally, and I am not sure if I should even mention this here, but I use the Snipit tool to take grabs of what I think are important sections. I will either highlight or mark them up (I have a touchscreen) which I think this helps me to stay organized when it comes to write down my thoughts for their standard questions at the end. It might shave off time, but I am also spending time taking the grabs. I have also contemplated making a blank Google Doc with their standard questions to have open side-by-side so I can just write what I want in the moment only to copy and paste later. I also spend way too much time on the 3 descriptors and constantly find myself seeking out synonyms of the same word, which also eats up time.

The long directions are the same every time. I scroll quickly through those. Oh and the "checking to be sure it's you and captcha" are redundant too. That allows me more time to focus on the case. I do take notes on a sticky to help remind me of things. I'm slow too, but I'm getting faster.
