I think most users just want to plug in and clicky klacky. Flashing firmware is usually a tech support level acitvity or maybe even higher. I've been in IT for 22 years. I'm glad you find it easy, but it's a lot for many users.

 

Here's an example of the VIA GUI from when I was first laying out the keymap for my ortho board.

 

I don't play any games. I got that all for turking. macro recording and 18 programmable buttons. and I like the interface for programming the mouse, it is easy to figure out and use. and they don't require signing up for accounts and stuff, you just plug them in. or at least that's how it was years ago with these.
