That sucks! I noticed though that freelancers are a lot picker anymore. Back when I did freelance/independent contractor years ago, they would still pay you for mess ups and just tell you not to do that again. Now with people like ISS and other places, if you mess up, they act like you are committing a crime.

Went for a drive to a park by my new house, and WOW. Running trails everywhere, a creek flowing right next to the trail, and some seriously beautiful nature. I even saw a little bunny rabbit! Plus there was a high school XC team training there... must make friends with the coaches so I can volunteer with them.
