I had an expired HIT just the other day and was messaging with the requester. I got an email this morning and he included a screenshot of a form he filled out for bonusing me. I did have my self created code for the HIT which I had given him along with worker ID to prove I'd done it. I haven't seen the bonus $$ yet in my account though.

I suppose it's possible he went to AWS support and they're manually doing it for him (surprising) buuuuuuuuut

It's not a native piece of MTurk's UI, so it effectively doesn't exist because even requester customer support is.. not great.

Also that 100% sounds worse than simply creating a compensation HIT but lol

If it works, it's easier to me than a compensation HIT, because it really sucks trying to catch them when they don't bother qual'ing them. I did explain about compensation HITs and honestly, he was really great about the whole thing. I had already written the HIT off in my mind and he was appreciative that I was polite, saying that it is the exception, rather than the rule to have workers being polite... Pretty much what we say about their responses . I haven't gotten any email from Amazon and he put the reason for the compensation into the HIT, which they said they'd include in an email to me.
