We truly appreciate the feedback that we have received on the Mind-OP program so far, and we would like to take a moment to address some of the concerns that have been brought to our attention.

This is a unified self-help program for heightened depression and anxiety developed by a Doctoral (PhD) level Clinical psychologist with extensive experience in mindfulness and clinical interventions, and so the value provided is far higher than would be expected from other programs freely available online. The pay is relatively low, as to not interfere with motivation to complete the program for the sake of gaining the benefits hypothesized.

We provide estimates of how long each module will take, but this is in no way perfectly accurate, as the program is designed to be completed at participants’ own pace, and so there is no way to actually give perfectly accurate estimates of how long it will take each individual to complete. With this said, we will be changing all timestamps on the program HITs to reflect average completion time from previous recruitment waves.

Finally, we apologize if you think the compensation is low or that we intentionally mislead participants. However, we do advise that this program is designed for people who are first and foremost motivated to learn the skills offered in this unique program, and less so those who are motivated to get paid for their involvement with this mental health program. To our knowledge, no other mental health programs have been examined in this way on an MTurk platform, so be rest assured that you are part of something very novel and will contribute to the literature on self-help programs. However, we are learning throughout the process that there are major limitations associated with using crowdsourcing platforms such as MTurk for mental health programs, and so we are attempting to mitigate them as ethically and as pragmatically as possible.

Rest assured that your time is extremely important to us, and so, we appreciate you providing your voice to tell us about any issues or concerns you have. All of this will go into designing a better intervention for those who need it most. Thank you again for your interest and participation in this program. We truly appreciate it.
