"So, I see here on your CV that you've got a gap for the past few years, and listed previous employers as available upon request, which is a little unusual. Who was your previous employer?"

Well, I can tell you, but there's no contact number that you could contact to verify my employment; if I did provide you with a contact, they wouldn't be able to confirm whether I worked for the company. You'd have to take my word for it, but other than job title and length of employment I can't even tell you what I did. I am permitted to disclose that my previous employment required a security clearance, and I can provide a reference that can confirm this to your satisfaction.
