08/13 - Tacobout TurkerView Tuesday

I keep wanting to start watching Dr. Who, but no one can tell me where I should start

 

I would say to start at the beginning of New Who with the 9th Doctor so that you can meet Rose and get the full story. You can technically jump in anywhere but you'll have a deeper connection with the characters if you start at the beginning. Just don't start with the Cat Hospital one. That's the first episode I showed my husband and it was years before he would watch another one.

 

start with the reboot with eccleston, but go in with low expectations and be pleasantly surprised as it gets better. i'm behind on a few seasons so i can't speak to the last two doctors, but eccleston, tennant, and smith are all great.

but i'm not about to start a war about which one is best

 

and STOP after capaldi. trust me.

jk umm I started with Eccleston, loved him and David Tennant, but haven't watched past then. I'd probs start there, but I don't think there is a "should"

This-I remember watching the classic episodes as a child, mostly Tom Baker but I would not recommend starting with those you can always go back and watch those later

I watched a few with Smith actually, but not enough to get a sense of what he brought honestly. I'll have to get back into if

So start with Eccleston, and then just kinda....whatever?

 

personally I think each Doctor is a bit cheesy and over the top when they first regenerate but they grow and develop over time so remember to give each a little time to mature

 

IMHO, start with Eccleston and watch chronologically. There is some continuity, but if you skip Eccelston (pls don't I love him), it's not gonna ruin your life or anything.
