I just got on, yeah my buddy yesterday still had access to Prolific at his job, but as soon as he did one survey he got banned from that IP.

So now he is waiting to see if a survey pops up at home because he reached out and is "Suppose" to be unban now at his home ip.

Regardless, Prolific dropped the ball hardcore.

 

yeah really dumb IMO. i was even reached out to before they did their platform switch as a "valued member" to evaluate the user interface and give feedback. then a couple weeks later they basically stonewall me? terrible customer service, though i guess their "customer" is the requester, not worker

I was on hold or whatever while they checked out something during the change and they never got back with me. I forgot about them and them saw them mentioned here so I went there and my account was still on hold. So, I emailed with one sentence- Why is my account on hold? They emailed back within a few hours and said my account was ready to go, nothing else. So, I did a hit and everything worked fine.

People never seen to grasp this when <insert "ethical" platform> pops up every few weeks.

Its like if Toyota went to a Ford dealership and started asking the cars what they wanted out of the new dealership model Toyota was building (y'know, if the cars could talk).

What would they say? Well, it doesn't matter, they're the product. But of course they're going to say things like "make sure you don't sell me to someone who drives like hell!" (no scammy requesters) or "don't drive me on an empty tank of gas" (pay well) and other things that, honestly, don't matter that much to the dealership.

Its the problem inherent to all of these businesses who come around claiming they're going to build an "ethical" MTurk. Yeah, that's not gonna happen, they're just using it as bait to get workers (the product) onto the shelves and then they'll happily slap a $6.50/hr sign on their front door like Prolific has done.
